On top of my eye for design, I upcycle furniture and repurpose whimsical home décor, which I sell at various markets in Chicagoland. (Follow me on Instagram to find out my next market!) My pieces are sourced from alleys, charity thrift stores, and friends and family, and I love keeping things in circulation instead of seeing them end up in a landfill.
One of my favorite parts of my job? Repurposing items to give them new—and sometimes unexpected—lives, either as something they weren’t originally intended for or through bright colors or sassy fabrics to create unique statement pieces.
Why I became a Handy Girl
Frugal interior design began as a personal necessity when I lived in New York City in my 20s. I had little money to make teeny—and often dumpy—apartments feel like home.
Now, interior design has become my passion—not only the design itself, but also the execution. If I can (literally) get my hands on it, I will. I enjoy the whole process, from learning new skills, to bringing my vision to life with my own hands, to adding value for my clients.
As an estimator and project manager in commercial flooring for the past 15 years, I’ve done it all and am familiar with what’s required for a successful project.
